YouTube Opens to a Wider Range of Mobile Phones
Google’s video sharing website YouTube which currently runs on just a few mobile phone handsets is reportedly expanding this service to a far wider audience by enabling it on phones from Motorola, LG Electronics, Nokia, and Sony Ericsson. The move will enable millions more potential viewers and offers the same experience as browsing the site on a normal desktop computer.
The company is also testing software that will make it easier for mobile-phone users to upload videos from phones onto YouTube, potentially allowing for far greater use of video to document people’s everyday lives.
The plan, as usual, for Google will be to build up a large audience and then introduce some form of monetization to make the service profitable.
